Armando Gallaraga threw six innings of perfect ball as the
Tigers finished off a three game sweep of the Royals at the
K Wednesday afternoon. Gallaraga, who was brought up in May
after the Royals swept the Tigers twice in April, retired
the first 18 batters before David DeJesus broke up the
perfect game with a single. He scored on a single by Jose
Guillen but it was too little too late as the Tigers scored five in the first three innings off loser Zack Greinke. Miguel Cabrera led the Detroit offense with three RBIs and Magglio Ordonez drove in two more. The Royals were outscored 33-6 in the three game sweep by Detroit.
The Eastern Division leading Tampa Bay Rays come in Thursday for a four game weekend series. Gil Meche and Matt Garza are the pitchers for the opener and you can hear it on 580 WIBW beginning at 6:35.

The Chiefs signed second round pick Brandon Flowers to a
four year deal Wednesday. Flowers, a cornerback from
Virginia Tech, will step immediately into a starter role,
replacing Ty Law. The team was also optimistic that they
would get a deal done with one of their first round picks,
Branden Albert, before they leave for training camp at River Falls, Wisconsin Thursday. The higher first round pick, defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, will not be signed by
the time camp starts and could be a lengthy holdout - no
surprise, considering he is the fifth overall selection and
a track record by Chiefs GM Carl Peterson of trying to be
tough with high draft picks and ending up having them not sign quickly.
